The Woman and the Dragon

(please, read the post on the website first)
Is there a war going? Who is winning? why did you say that?

I'm not sure what to make of the passage from Revelation regarding the Woman and the Dragon. I'd be interested to read any comments anyone has about it.

There is definitely a war going on, and the clever dragon cloaks its talons in the wrappings of secular progressivism and the trappings of false goodness. The promises of the dragon look and sound good--it is hard for people to see that that which appears to be good is not. These are two separate fronts of the war.

Who is winning? I don't think the dragon is winning on the front of secular progressivism among the masses of people. I would give it a definite edge in the world of academia and in circles of people who care about being socially progressive, but I think there are enough "silent majority" Christians among the masses of people that secular progressivism is held in check. It's an easy front to see.

On the other hand, false goodness is a much harder front to discern--and therefore, more of the masses of people fall for it. Sadly, I believe that in Western culture, at least, the dragon is winning on this front.

What is the symbolic reference to the seven heads and ten horns of the dragon?
